The Nonprofit Assimilation Process and Work-Life Balance

Nonprofit organizations are a context where workers’ passion and commitment to their work may make it more difficult negotiate between professional private life demands. Challenges in navigating important issues for individual sustainability influence organizational terms of retention commitment. As new employees join an organization, they socialized into the rhythm norms workplace; therefore, early employment provides juncture study how come understand work-life expectations. This qualitative considers 55 interviews with (employed six months or less) at nonprofit social welfare organization which was concerned high employee turnover. Participants described came learned expected behaviors positions messages received from members (e.g., supervisors coworkers) groups outside family friends) pertaining managing responsibilities. Findings highlight importance communication, extend assimilation concepts, offer practical implications enhance employees.
